Week 13 & 14 Swimming (Strokes & Relays)

Week 1


  • Deep Water Test & Warm-ups (Monday)
    • whirlpool
    • endless relay
  • Shallow Water Lessons
    • kicking, breathing
    • arms
  • Deep Water Lessons
    • stroke development
    • starts & turns

    SHALLOW SWIMMER QUIZ  (for those students who did the lessons in the shallow end)

DUE 11/23 BEFORE SCHOOL

Week 2
  • Tube Relays
  • Free Day Monday 11/23
  • NO QUIZ

STROKES STUDY GUIDE
  • legs = flutter kick
  • arms = high elbow, reach out in front (in line with your nose),   enter with hand at an angle
  • head = face in water, look forward, breathe to side (rhythmic breathing)

  • legs = flutter kick
  • arms = alternate movements
  • head = neutral position, face out of water, look straight up

  • legs = whip kick
  • arms = “round the pizza, slice the pizza”
  • head = look down; come up to breathe when pull with arms
  • rhythm = pull then kick

  • legs = whip kick
  • arms = soldier, chicken, eagle positions
  • head = neutral position, face out of water, look straight up
  • legs = scissor kick
  • arms = bottom arm outstretched “picks the apple”; top arm “holds the basket” at your side; mid stroke, transfer the apple to the basket.
  • head position = 1 cheek and 1 ear should be in water, everything else above
